AthleticMadrid’ssummer targets include Carlos Tevez and Filipe Luis

Athletic Madrid concluded the previous season at the 3rd spot of the Spanish League with a total of 78 points. The team of Diego Simeone managed to score 67 goals in 38 matches which is almost half of what Real Madrid and Barcelona scored.

The main attacking figures of Athletic Madrid are Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann with both of them scoring a combined total of 34 goals for the Spanish club in their campaign.

Diego Simeone however, wants to increase his attacking options and this is why one of the priorities of the Argentinean coach is to reinforce the offensive department of his squad.

Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain are some of the top summer targets of Diego Simeone but Higuain might just be out of reach as he is rumored to be on the way of joining Arsenal.

Carlos Tevez on the other hand is a much more accessible player to sign as the Argentine attacker is reaching the last few stages of his contract with Juventus and the Italian club is willing to sell him if the price is right.

Diego Simeone is a big fan of Tevez as the manager of Athletic Madrid said: “The truth is I have not spoken with Carlos, but I know the club is speaking with his agent. It is always exciting to have players like Tevez. He has the best thing about this game he bleeds football, apart from the number of goals he is capable of scoring each season. He would be an ideal signing for our idea of football at Atletico Madrid.”

Another player who is on the watch-list of Diego Simeone is Chelsea’s Brazilian defender Filipe Luis. The 29 year old left-back actually used to be a player of Athletic Madrid but he was offloaded to Stamford Bridge on July of 2014 as he was signed by Chelsea for a transfer fee in the region of €16 million and now Simeone wants him back in the team.
