MAN UNITED STRENGTHEN THEIR INTEREST IN OBLAK

Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has continued to be a strong transfer candidate for English Premier League giants Manchester United and the Red Devils have recently approached the Spanish La Liga Champions about the possibility of signing their number one shot-stopper in the summer. United manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær has continued to be skeptical about his current options in goal, David De Gea and Dean Henderson as they have fallen short of his expectations based on their performances this season.

The manager rotated the two goalkeepers as Henderson became the first choice in Premier League matches while De Gea was selected to maintain his position between the sticks in their UEFA Europa League campaign. But it looks like he wants to bring a new face in the goalkeeping department as he continues to put the pieces together in building a team that will compete for titles next season.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Henderson in recent weeks but it is almost certain that the Red Devils will not be selling the England international goalie to a direct rival as they would be strengthening their competitors for the Premier League title in the process. De Gea on the other hand has been linked with a move to French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain and could join the Parisiens if Oblak moves to Old Trafford in the summer.

Oblak is said to be keen on a continued stay at Atletico Madrid but if United table a bid that the Spanish club deem irresistible they could be forced to sell the goalkeeper this summer. Either way, the Red Devils are expected to make a formal offer for Oblak in the coming days if they are truly interested in acquiring his services ahead of next season.
