CavalieriExtends Contract with Fluminense until 2019

Fluminense have extended the contract of goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri by an additional year.

The current contract of the former Liverpool goalkeeper was set to end in the summer of 2018. Now, he will remain at the Brazilian outfit at least until 2019. Cavalieri returned to Brazilian football in 2011 after failing to establish himself as a first-team regular in European football. The 34-year-old went from a promising goalkeeper in the Palmeiras team straight to the Liverpool squad. Regarded as one of the biggest clubs in European football, the move to Anfield hindered the ability of the player to grow since he was largely a backup to then-first choice Pepe Reina.

As a result, he decided to join Italian outfit Cesena in 2010 on a free transfer. He spent only one season in Italy before being drawn back to Brazilian football with Fluminense. Cavalieri has become one of the reliable players for the Brazilian outfit so much so that they have decided to extend the contract of the player even though he is 34. Read More

Diego Simeone Admits Mistakes in Atletico’s Latest Champions League Win

Primera Liga

Atletico Madrid’s good form in the Champions League continued after a 2-1 win over Rostov, but manager Diego Simeone was not completely happy after the game.

Atletico have been one of the best teams in the Champions League this season – at least on a defensive perspective. The goal conceded by the Spanish outfit in the latest group match was the first that they have let in in Europe. After three consecutive clean sheets, the club sit three points ahead of Bayern Munich in the group table. It gives them a massive advantage going into the last two games.

Antoine Griezmann was once again at his brilliant best after scoring twice, but the game could have easily ended in a disappointing home draw had it not been for his late goal. Even though the Frenchman had a given the home team the lead after just 28 minutes,Rostov made it clear that they will not be going down easily. Azmoun came up with an equaliser just after two minutes and the game was evenly poised at the second half. Atletico, though, came up with a valiant effort in the second half which ultimately gave them the deserved goal right at the end of the match.

Managers has Highest Authority in Football

While the managers have all the rights to be into the ears of the higher authority of the club and to make pressures regarding any certain signing they seek, they must not make it a compulsory condition to be fulfilled by the club.

It’s sort of unprofessionalism because the signings are not only about cash, but, about the stand of the seller club as well, if they are even ready to do away with someone you want? They might have their own problems not allowing them to consider the sale of the player.

What we are hearing about Diego Simeone is that he has almost given an ultimatum to Atletico Madrid regarding his favourite player Costa. It’s either the entry of the Spaniard or the exit of the boss.

He is not ready to entertain any other names which might be the possible choices for the frontline or which Atletico might buy him.

This stubbornness on the part of coach is very unpleasant. One can’t quite comprehend such compulsion. Read More

Emmanuel Adebayor’s career is fading away

During the 2014-15 season of the Premier League, Emmanuel Adebayor made a total of 8 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur and it seems like the Togolese striker will have even less playing time on the pitch than before.

There is no place left for Adebayor neither in Tottenham Hotspur or with his country Togo after the coach of the national team decided to ban Adebayor from playing with Togo for as long as he remains in charge of the national squad.

Emmanuel Adebayor is a player who has always struggled with discipline and behaviour. The Togolese forward was dropped out of Togo back in 2006 due to his attitude and things of that nature and the cycle is repeating itself but only this time, its far worse.

Tom Saintfiet is the manager of the Togolese national squad and he had selected Adebayor to play and represent Togo when they faced off with Djouti back in September 4 of the current year but Adebayor decided to simply not go at all. He didn’t contact Tom Saintfiet to tell him about this decision, the player simply did not go didn’t tell anyone about this decision.

“For me, it is clear that it is a player who does not want to play for his country anymore and he does not want his country to be qualified for the next African Cup of Nations. He has agreed to play against Liberia, and not against Djibouti. For me, it is not the duty of a player to decide against which opponent he will play.” The national coach of Togo, Tom Saintfiet said as he voiced his frustration in relation to Adebayor’s actions and decisions. John Carver believes he is stronger and better after having dealt with the struggles of Newcastle United

Primera Liga

John Carver was initially selected as the man to replace Alan Pardew at the managerial role of Newcastle United back in January of the current year as he signed a contract which expired at the end of the season.

The coaching career of John Carver kicked off in a superb form as Newcastle United claimed a 3-0 triumph over Hull City in what was the very first match of John Carver as the manager of Newcastle United.

Things began to fall apart from there on as the club failed to secure a victory until a month later when they faced off with Aston Villa which resulted in a 1-0 triumph for Newcastle United but it took them on month to win 1 league match.

It got even worse later on for John Carver as he was unable to push his team to a victory until the last match of the entire season which was played on May 24 with Newcastle United defeating West Ham United.

From February 28 to May 24, Newcastle United played a total of 11 Premier League matches and only one of those concluded in a triumph for the team of John Carver. Read More

AthleticMadrid’ssummer targets include Carlos Tevez and Filipe Luis

Athletic Madrid concluded the previous season at the 3rd spot of the Spanish League with a total of 78 points. The team of Diego Simeone managed to score 67 goals in 38 matches which is almost half of what Real Madrid and Barcelona scored.

The main attacking figures of Athletic Madrid are Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann with both of them scoring a combined total of 34 goals for the Spanish club in their campaign.

Diego Simeone however, wants to increase his attacking options and this is why one of the priorities of the Argentinean coach is to reinforce the offensive department of his squad.

Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain are some of the top summer targets of Diego Simeone but Higuain might just be out of reach as he is rumored to be on the way of joining Arsenal.

Carlos Tevez on the other hand is a much more accessible player to sign as the Argentine attacker is reaching the last few stages of his contract with Juventus and the Italian club is willing to sell him if the price is right. Read More
